Notification Logger
Notification Logger
Windows shows you a notification once. Clear the notification centre, restart the PC, or simply look away for ten minutes, and it is gone for good — there is no built-in way to get it back.
Notification Logger is a Windows 10 and Windows 11 desktop app from GagarinSoft that quietly records every notification your PC receives and keeps it for as long as you want. Delivery codes, meeting reminders, security warnings, failed payments, messages from apps you had muted — all of it stays in one searchable list.
WHAT IT DOES
Notification Logger runs in the background and captures notifications from any app that uses the Windows notification system:
Browsers: Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Firefox
Chat and social: Microsoft Teams, Slack, WhatsApp, Telegram, Discord, Zoom, Instagram, X
Mail and work: Microsoft Outlook, Gmail, Microsoft 365, OneDrive, Google Drive, Dropbox
️ Security and system: Windows Security, Windows Update, Norton, McAfee, Avast, and more
FIND ANYTHING AGAIN
Search the whole archive by text, application, date or time. Turn on regular expressions when a plain word is not enough. Group by application, filter any column, and star the notifications you never want deleted — favourites are never removed by automatic cleanup.
KEYWORD ALERTS
Set the words you cannot afford to miss — error, payment, urgent, the name of a client — and Notification Logger raises a toast the moment one of them appears in any incoming notification.
PRIVACY BY DEFAULT
The history is stored in a local database on your own computer. There is no account, no cloud sync and no telemetry. Nothing is uploaded anywhere. If other people use your PC, switch on the optional PIN lock: the history stays hidden until the PIN is entered, and the window locks itself again after a period of inactivity or when the PC wakes from standby.
EXPORT
Export the complete log, or just what your current filter shows, to CSV or JSON — for a support ticket, an audit trail, an expense report, or simply a backup.
BUILT FOR EVERY DAY
Dark and light themes. Optional automatic refresh. Configurable retention, so old entries clean themselves up on a schedule you choose. Available in 15 languages.
WHO USES IT
IT administrators tracking system and security alerts. Developers reviewing build and error notifications. Freelancers and finance teams keeping a record of payment and invoice messages. Anyone who has ever thought "what did that notification say?"
QUESTIONS
Does Windows keep notification history on its own?
No. Windows discards notifications once they are dismissed or the notification centre is cleared. There is no setting to recover them.
Can it show notifications from before it was installed?
No. Notification Logger records from the moment it is installed and granted access; earlier notifications no longer exist anywhere on the system.
Does my data leave the computer?
No. The database is local, and the app makes no network calls to send your history anywhere.
What do I need to do after installing?
Allow notification access when Windows asks, or open Settings > Privacy > Notifications and enable it for Notification Logger. The app shows a banner with a direct link if access is missing.
